The Bayside Youth Orchestras give young string players the opportunity to play publicly whilst learning within a supportive environment.
Our members come from both within and around the Redlands, and range in age from six to eighteen.
The ensembles perform in many different events and competitions throughout the year, and regularly collaborate with the Redland Sinfonia to present combined performances.
Julie is a passionate strings teacher, based in the Redland City. Julie's primary instrument is viola, however she teaches violin, viola, cello and double bass in state schools in the South East through Education Queensland.
Julie is an experienced musician and enjoys playing in various community ensembles across Brisbane including the Orchestra Corda Spiritus (viola section principal), Redland Sinfonia, and Brisbane Symphony Orchestra.
Julie has been working with the Bayside Youth Orchestra as a tutor since it established in 2012. This year, she has taken up the role of musical director, and is responsible for conducting the two ensembles that make up the youth orchestra.
Julie holds a Bachelor of Music, Bachelor of Education (Instrumental and Classroom Music), and an A.Mus.A. in Viola (distinction).
